DWP Work Programme

INTRODUCTION

At The Citizens Trust we are working in partnership with Maximus Employment & Training UK to deliver the DWP Work Programme and we are very keen to give you the support needed to help you get the job you want.

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP

Our task on the Work Programme is to provide the support and guidance you may need to get into work or find that first job you have been searching for. Once you find a job we will continue to support you to ensure that you are able to remain in employment. We see this as very much a partnership between us. We will do all we can to increase your chances of securing employment, but in order to do so we must work together. We want to build your trust in us, get to know you, and, importantly, find out what type of job you would like to do.

ACTIVITIES

So, how are we going to do this? Together we will produce an action plan which will clearly detail what we will do to ensure you are ready for employment. The action plan will change as your needs and skills develop, but at all times we will be looking towards the goal of getting you the job you want. Some of the activities that you can access while on the programme include:

Pre-employment training
Sector skills training
Vocational training
Personal development
Short courses
Work placements, taster days & volunteering opportunities
In-work support and sustained employment strategies

LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

Now all of this may seem straightforward, but no doubt like in any partnership there may be times when our opinions or ideas are not the same. This is perfectly okay and simply part of us ‘working together’. Over time we are confident you will see that our staff do genuinely care about your progression, and you may find that your time with us may not be like what you expected. This is because our ethos is routed firmly in the local community.

Most of our staff are local people, and many of them have experienced at first hand the barriers and difficulties that exist through being unemployed. It is through this ‘local knowledge’, coupled with over 15 years of experience delivering a range of employment projects that we are able to provide you with the support you need.

WORKING WITH EMPLOYERS

In addition to working with you, our staff will also be working closely with employers to increase the number of job opportunities available. Some of the employer engagement and workforce development activities that we will be carrying out include:

HR Solutions
Disability Awareness Training
Offender integration training
Equalities advice i.e. policy development

Our delivery of the Work Programme forms part of the Maximus Employment & Training UK programme. So if you are interested in volunteering to join the Work Programme or have been advised by your JCP Advisor that you will be referred to Maximus UK, then you can chose to come to The Citizens Trust.
